Giant Clam. 7 x 4 inches. Seed Beads, Sequins, Felt, Thread and Fabric.
Last year I was invited to participate in a blog hop by sequin artist, Saturday Sequins. I enjoyed it so much. I made a sequin squid. This year, i've combined my love for bead embroidery and sequins. I used sequin in two ways, by stacking them in the shell (very labor intensive!), and the traditional sequin embroidery technique in the center of the clam. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed making this piece.
Your enjoyment is reflected :-)) in the piece. I've been following your blog for a few months and have developed a strong admiration of your work, especially the pieces that have to do with the sea. I thought nothing could be better than the shark but this ... I'm speechless!
ReplyDeleteHi Eleanor,
ReplyDeleteI love your clam shell it is beautiful. I like how you stacked the sequins on their sides to make the ripples of the shell.

ReplyDeleteOooo what an intricate piece, I love how you incorporated the sequins to create the clam shell.
ReplyDeleteYour work is just amazing. Sequins seem a natural to go with sea life.
ReplyDeleteI have admired your work for a long time! You made a likeness of Barley the dog for my bead store owner friend and I got to see it first hand :D I'm happy that you were able to participate in the blog hop. I love the dual use of the sequins. Very inventive and it adds a whole new dimension to the piece. The color palette is also fantastic.
ReplyDeleteEleanor, oh my gosh!!! I love, love, love this piece. Amazing job. Thank you so much for participating again this year. <3
ReplyDeleteAmazing job, what a great design. Absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour piece is beautiful, I like it a lot
ReplyDeleteGreat piece! I really like the look of the stacked sequins. Labour intensive, but so worth it (well, that's easy for me to say who just look at it, but you know what I mean). Fab job!
