A Winning Piece!


This beaded portrait of Barack Obama is titled My Hope, By Eleanor Pigman. This piece was 1 of the 30 winners of the Manifest Hope competition put on by MoveOn.org & Obey Giant. The competition had over 1,200 submissions and there were only 31 finalist. The competition invited artists to create 2D or 3D works that exemplify the positive vision of Barack Obama's campaign—Hope, Change, Progress, Unity and Patriotism. The judging panel included incredible people such as Guggenheim Modern Art Curator Nancy Spector, recording artist Moby, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, DJ Spooky, Denver Modern Art Curator Cydney Payton, & artist Shepard Fairey.
Materials include, thousands of seed beads, thread and a polyester flag. Dimensions 8 1/2 x 11.

El, this is incredible! I loved the piece when I first saw it but didn't realize what an accomplishment you made with having it in the collection for Obama! Awesome!

Fabulous! Is this the size of most of your portraits? Believe it or not, this is the size of just one small element of one of my beaded paintings! :o
